Lisa Fasullo, MA, MS
Lisa loves to dance more than almost anything in life! Using her master’s degrees in both Health Education and Social Work, Lisa enjoys creating exciting, transformative classes and environments where people of all ages can discover simple, fun ways to bring more play, ease and connection into their lives.
Her expertise lies in the area of sensuality and creative self-expression for women. She has successfully worked with hundreds of women in this area and enjoys nothing more than inspiring women to this non-cerebral awakening and blossoming of their inner strength, their body’s sexiness, their radiance and their joy for life!
Most recently, as founder and owner of Free Motion Dance Center in Boulder, Colorado, Lisa has fused her passion for music, the expressive, sensual and primal arts through offering many forms of movement and dance at FREEMOTION. She is excited to use her experience in education, business, health promotion and counseling towards developing the research component, with her colleagues at their company which will be exploring and raising awareness around the physical, emotional and meta-physical benefits of dance. She sees movement and dance as one of the easiest and most accessible forms of access to our more elevated, higher self. Once we just start doing it. From that more elevated mood, we are simply happier people, more confident and psyched for the rest of our day!
(A little extra history about me!)
The Movement I am inspired to offer
The service I provide is teaching sensual dance classes to women ages 18-approximately 70.
The classes are organized into 4-week sessions, with each class building on the last.
Women learn the foundations of sensual dance and sink deeply and pleasurable into their innate self-confidence, playfulness and sense of themselves as sensual beings.
In the almost 10 years I have been offering classes and workshops in this area, I have taught hundreds of women, and most, if not
all, tell me the classes have been extremely transformative for them. Classes are all about helping women tap into
their sometimes latent sense of their own sensuality, sacredness and power. There are many testimonials
on my website describing womens’ experiences in class (see Personal Accounts section).
Students generally take just one session, although many times women repeat the 4-week session. This is a great way to even more deeply explore your sensuality by allowing yourself more hands-on experience of drop into your body and feeling empowered, sexy and elegant in the way you move both in and out of class.
How I became initially interested in Sensual Dance
As a group fitness instructor and former personal trainer, I have taught exercise since my time as a college student. How I became initially interested in, and subsequently started teaching sensual movement to women, was that I took a few sensual dance classes at a local pole dancing studio for the first time, and for the first time in my life, felt instantly free, sensual and more myself than I had ever remembers consciously feeling. You can imagine my dismay and utter disappointment, when shorty thereafter, the studio closed down due to lack of attendance, and I was left without a newly-experienced, yet now instantly-evaporated, sensual dance community.
Forced to choose between: 1) not knowing when I might ever feel this new-found and compelling new form of sensual movement after just 3 or 4 classes, and 2) my still nervousness about actually entertain the fact that I could actually continue to learn, and then think of teaching this exciting new form of movement. I chose to move forward with the latter, nervous and unsure of how event o move forward initially! With a new-found calling, and based on my previous movement experience, I formulated the structure for a 4-week workshop and began teaching it at a new sensual dance studio in broomfield. Unfortunately, this studio ALSO closed down after about 6 short months. It can be quite a challenge attracting women to these types
of dance studios, although once the women take a few classes they seem to become hooked! It is getting them there in the first place that proves to be most difficult for most studios of this type.
What I have learned
Through this very internal, yet also outwardly-expressive process of developing this offering, I magically and effortlessly seemed to even feel more drawn to natural in this new style of movement and decided to begin teaching classes about 10 years ago at a local studio on Pearl Street in Boulder. Since then, I have full classes of approximately 9 or 10 women per class and I teach one day and one evening session monthly. Classes always start at the beginning of the month and are generally spread through word of mouth.
One of the primary things I have learned about myself from what women in the classes tell me is that I am a very effective and fun instructor
who help women push barriers and plant new, forward-reaching seeds in their own lives. It is so incredibly fulfilling to receive this feedback
from students. I have also fully realized that I seem to have become more sensually aware, much more than I used to be, specifically from teaching the classes and from each student I have turned on to this innate form of feminine movement.
A few years after I started teaching this type of movement, specifically, it’s far-reaching influence on women – I was featured on the cover and inside Women’s Magazine, a local magazine whose editor, Aimee Heckel (a dynamite young woman) had taken the class as part of a review she did for the Daily Camera, our local newspaper.. I received a lot of great publicity from the magazine article and it was definitely fun being on the cover of a popular local magazine.
I was also featured in the Examiner’s (national article archive website) in a 4-part series on “Sexiest People on the Front Range’ a few years ago.
My relationship with my husband has transformed miraculously, part of the reason being my weekly special dances for him and the way
I identify with the sensual, sacred and strong part of myself.
Feeling Sexy is something most Women love to Feel!
In conclusion, I have come to know, fascinatingly, how so many women who walked through the door, no matter what they look like or how self-expressed,
seem to was around feeling varying degrees of disconnection from their sensuality and moreover, that they seem to long for the opportunity to access this essential, innate, and often hidden part of themselves.
I have found that my life’s path is helping women delve with fun and laughter and sacredness into this erotic self. Life is much more fun and just simply seem to work better when this part is alive and flowing freely in life, whether it be in a relationship, a career or with family. It is a remarkably effortless and truly miraculous journey.
I learn over and over that we are all kindred spirits, that we are all on a continuum. Single, married, thin, full-figured, with children or without, career-driven or on another path in life, no matter what our life journey I’ve found that feeling alive, self-expressed and sexy is something most women love to feel.
